Freemover Freemover is the exchange programme for a semester abroad at a university outside of the HSG’s partner network. Dear students interested in participating in an exchange, on this website you will find information regarding Freemover exchange. Please consider this to be a general summary of the information available. The information here are provided for students interested in studying at the University of St.Gallen (HSG) as regular students and also interested in the exchange opportunities at HSG. Detailed Information are available on StudentWeb and you have access to StudentWeb as soon as you are immatriculated at HSG. General The Freemover exchange has to be self-organised by the student, i.e. independent application by the student to the host university. The registration process takes place twice a year. An exchange at a Freemover university is possible from the 2nd semester of the Master's level. In Master programmes a minimum of 60 ECTS must be acquired at the HSG. Requirements for the registration and for beginning the exchange semester General registration prerequisits • Enrolled in a HSG Bachelor or Master programme at the time of application. Requirements for beginning the exchange semester • Enrolled in a HSG Master programme. Selecting universities for an exchange Selecting universities for an exchange A freemover exchange can take place if no existing partner contract is violated. This means that you can only make a freemover exchange at a non-partner university or a partner university with which only a bachelor exchange is available. You can find an overview of our partner universities here. A list of freemover universities (universities at which an HSG student has already completed a freemover) can be found in the StudentWeb. Please do not contact us with questions regarding our partner universities before you have not checked the detailed information on the StudentWeb. You will be granted access to the StudentWeb after having been admitted to a HSG Master programme. When making your exchange university selections, consider the language of instruction, the local language, available fields of study, semester dates, travel advisories, etc. Exchange period Exchange period • Autumn semester: Begin of exchange between 1 July and 31 December is considered as absence in autumn semester • Spring semester: Begin of exchange between 1 January and 30 June is considered as absence in spring semester Application period for an exchange in Autumn semester 2022: 1 February 2022 to 31 May 2022, 16.00 (St.Gallen - CH) Application period for an exchange in Spring semester 2023: 1 July 2022 to 27 October 2022, 16.00 (St.Gallen - CH) Application deadline Application deadline for an exchange in Autumn semester 2022: 31 May 2022, 16.00 (St.Gallen - CH) Application deadline for an exchange in Spring semester 2023: 27 October 2022, 16.00 (St.Gallen - CH) Transfer of credit towards HSG degree A minimum of 16 transferable ECTS course credits must be completed with a positive grade at the host university, otherwise no credits from the exchange term will be transferred towards the HSG degree. A maximum of 30 ECTS course-credits (Master thesis not included) can be credited to the HSG degree per exchange semester at Master’s level. Costs During the Freemover exchange semester HSG Freemover students are required to pay a reduced HSG tuition fee. Students are also responsible for all other costs related to their semester abroad for example tuition fee of guest university, course material, travel costs, housing, meals, etc. Further information can be found in the fee regulations of the University of St.Gallen. Scholarships Swiss-European Mobility Programme (SEMP) Freemover students are not eligilbe to receive SEMP scholarships.
